12 - 1/2 week ultrasound. Begins with baby's feet kicking, then arms squirm for a moment on either side of its bottom; Last is the baby's heartbeat at 155bpm. Doctor tells you what is what so be sure to turn on sound!
We ended up going into the doctor's office a few days early so that we can go out of town when our former appointment was scheduled for 13 weeks. It was only Brian and I this time and unfortunately we didn't get a new picture, but we DID get quite the ultrasound show!!! Brian was only able to capture the end before the doctor got the heartbeat, so I have posted that here. We laughed because he didn't go back to capture the profile because we think he was slightly frustrated with how squirmy and moving baby was! :) At very first look, we saw the most beautiful profile and a precious little nose- but already it was punching and kicking like crazy! Throughout the ultrasound we saw the femurs, the ribcage, both hemispheres of the brain, its stomach bubble, the bladder, the spine, and of course the arms. He even pointed out at one point when the baby made a fist and you could see its knuckles!
During the exam, the doctor literally said to me, "Once you can feel this- you're IN for it!" When the doctor tells you that at 12 weeks and a few days... oh man is it a little nerve-wracking! I ALWAYS knew since the day I found out we were pregnant that this baby was a fighter and was super-feisty, so I guess it is just confirmation that it really is the case! :) We are already trying to think of names that are easy to yell from across the room :) and names that are a little more feisty than they are sweet :) Crazy, but true!
My favorite part of the ultrasound is where the baby kicks its legs and then flaps its arms- love, love, love! Our next appointment will be at 16-1/2 weeks where the doctor will find out the sex and seal it in an envelope and we'll deliver it to a bakery. :) We're having a Gender Reveal Party where ALL of us (Brian & I included) will find out the gender on August 20th in the city we met and fell in love in... College Station, Texas (aka "Aggieland"!). :)
